6 - Extras - Overview |
Extras are great functions and tools you can use to enhance your
website or make it more interactive. You can use all or none of
these extras as you choose and to set them up just follow the same
steps you have for the other parts of your site – eg Select the
Extra you are interested in from the menu options on the left of
your screen, set up the options that the screen asks you and in some
cases choose the “save changes” option or “activate changes” option
to make it happen.

STEP
6 - Extras - An Example of using an Extra - Flash Introduction |
Here’s an example of how to set up a Flash Movie Introduction for
your website.
Choose the “Flash-Intro” option from the Left Hand Menu and you will
be presented with this screen.

-
First, select the check box “Yes I would like to use a Flash
Intro For Free”
-
Next choose one of the available flash movie templates, we are
going to choose the Circle movie
-
Type in the text for the Header – we will type “The Kiwi Ocean
Hotel”
-
Type in the slogan – we will type “The Ocean To The Mountains”
-
Choose a Text Colour and Click “Apply”
-
The preview window is now updated with my preferences as below

This
means that when a visitor goes to the Kiwi Ocean Hotel Web Site they
will first be presented with a Flash Movie. If they don’t have flash
installed or they want to skip it those options are already
programmed in for you.

6 - Extras - HTML Title |

STEP
6 - Extras - Meta Tags |
Meta
Tags are pieces of code that are used to describe your web site for
search engines.
In
the “contents of the web site” box, you should enter a description
of your web site – so for example, for the Kiwi Ocean Hotel Web Site
we have added the description “The Kiwi hotel is located on the
beautiful shores of the South Island Of New Zealand. We have luxury
accommodation all with spas and in-house Sky Digital.”
Keywords are words which also help to describe and classify your web
site for search engines. There is a real science to developing
keywords that will help you get a higher ranking in search engines.
To start with though try to use the words that you would use if you
were trying to search for your business in a search engine. For
example, for the Kiwi Ocean Hotel we would use keywords such as
this, each separated by a comma. “kiwi ocean hotel, hotel new
Zealand, hotel south island, ocean hotel, accommodation south
island”. When you’re done, click “Save”
