STEP
5 - Introduction |
This
is where you can add text, graphics and links and so on to your web
site. Once you’ve clicked on the “5. Edit option in the Step By Step
Menu” you should see this screen.

|
STEP
5 - Choosing the pages to Edit |
To
edit the text on the home page, simply highlight the text on the
screen and start typing – just as you would with a word processor.
When
you are finished editing the homepage, you can move on to the next
page by clicking on the menu item – eg we will go next to edit the
About us page by clicking on “About Us” – this then opens up the
About Us Page ready for editing.

|
STEP
5 - Using The Editing Tool |
The
editing tool works in much the same way as a word processor, you can
insert graphics, audio and video files, tables, lists, feedback
forms, set paragraphs and all the things you need to do to get your
web site looking perfect. Scroll through the options to find out
what you can do.
Once
you are satisfied with the way the pages are edited you are ready to
move on to the next step which is adding some cool extras to your
web site.
|
STEP
5 - Uploading Images (jpeg and gif files) |
To insert a picture, place the cursor in the text
paragraph next to the place where you want to insert the picture, or
make a new paragraph. Choose the menu item "Image" and then the
option "Insert image".
You are now in the media database which has opened by way of a new
window. Choose the option "Add " (under "Element") and click
"Browse". Now you can select a picture (.jpg or .gif) and upload it.
Enter a name for the picture and click "OK". The picture is now in
the root folder in your media database.
To insert it on your page, click on the picture and then on "Choose"
(under "Element"). Now determine the position of the picture (on the
right or left next to the text) and click on "OK".
|
STEP
5 - Uploading Other Files (pdf, MS word etc) |
You can also upload other types of files such as PDFs,
MS Word files, sound files, MP3s and so on but in order to do this
you will need to use an FTP program such as Cute FTP, WS FTP or
Internet Explorer’s FTP function
Here is
how to upload other types of
files using an FTP Program but take note of the following warning:
WARNING
– deleting some
files may cause your website to not work or display correctly –
especially of you have built your web site using the DIY Web Builder
Tool – To avoid this you should generally not edit or change any of
the files listed – but instead, create a new directory in which you
can store you document files such as PDFs, MS Word files, or other
files that you may wish to link to.
